The practice.
There is structure of course, but there is always
the space for insight or true understanding to arise. This is called
‘Letting go’.
We sit quietly and let go of ambition and
expectation. We let go of any desire to get something, or to know
something, or to understand something but simply to get out of our
own way and allow the truth that we carry within us to manifest into
our life.
In this way we experience insight and deep
understanding directly. It’s not a commentary in the meditation or
something that you read in a book with footnotes and diagrams, but a
direct and personal experience of the truth.
This is the knowing that cannot be lost or
mistaken. If you have to ask, ‘is this an insight?’ the answer
must be a resounding NO!
You are welcome to come to my room anytime and
speak to me about anything you feel is important, and I will always
do my best to be of service to you. But there is also a point where I
must stop telling you things, because the danger is that I will
create an idea in your mind which you then pursue. It is a simple
Dhammic fact that the less of ‘you’ there is the happier life
will be.
Your life then becomes the blessing for yourself
and ultimately all beings.
When the Buddha awoke under the Bodhi Tree he
smiled. This same smile sits in your heart waiting to be freed.
May all beings be happy.
