Personal Path
People don't just arrive in this place of
enlightenment in the same way as people don't just arrive in the
place of misery.
There is a path, a progression of holding on
through fear, or letting go through fearlessness or love.
By not
understanding the reality of being we build a life around ideas and
concepts, fighting to maintain our view against a world of different
views. The frustration and disappointment is enormous and soul
destroying and so we fight more and more, and sink further into our
own fear and unhappiness.
Letting go requires the bravery of
jumping into an abyss. We don't know what can happen, but intuitively
we know there is nothing to lose. In fact we never fall, we fly, we
glide we become weightless.
But this takes time and determination.
Dhamma is precious. It is not a weekend course or contained in a
best selling book. Reflect, how could it be?
Dhamma is not simply
a collection of new ideas or new devices and techniques to apply to
your life. It is not a covering over of your insecurity by applying
religious rites and rituals. Dhamma is the path to full liberation,
and no matter how intelligent you are, you cannot think your way to
peace. Peace, harmony and love are far beyond the thinking
rationalizing mind. Dhamma is the emptiness that is filled by love,
by compassion and by joy.
This is a path worth walking.
May all beings be happy.
