The true Master.

When you are deliberately looking for a Master, it is not surprising that suddenly someone will present themselves as exactly what you want.
They will shine in front of you, and blind you with their words and enlightened behaviour, until you fall in love with them and become a true follower.
Slowly then comes the beginning of your mental athletics and endless compromising to ensure this person always fits your fantasies of what a Master should be.
Perhaps they will inadvertently reveal their deep seated hidden desires and aversions, but upon questioning, will always be able to present a satisfactory Dhammic explanation of them, and you, in your trust and naivety, will seek a truth in their words and what is presented in front of you, but sooner or later the heart speaks and this will be the first step on your true path.
No one can save you. No one can free you from your past. No one can purify your heart, only you can do that. And this is the truth of liberation.
We are our own saviours. The true Master points the way and asks for nothing in return.
Reflect: If the Master is a fully realized being, what could they possibly want from you?
In the end everything is teaching us, but often it takes time to understand the lesson.
Take care with who you sit in front of.

May all beings be happy.
