Surrendering
Darjeeling November 2013.
I begin my day here in
Darjeeling quite early with a one-hour sunrise meditation at
5.30, followed by kora and a chai in the street with the Indian and
Nepalese workers. For me, all this is part of my blessed life
during my short time in this beautiful town.
It is true that it is
cold on the roof, and sometimes a breeze blows across, but, and what?
It is like this and I am happy to accept these conditions without
complaint. Surrendering into the reality of the moment is the only
way that will take us to a real and profound peace. From that
surrender can then come a response, but a response from love rather
than a reaction from fear.
It is fear that always
shouts, 'it shouldn't be like this'. It is love that
whispers, 'it is like this, now what do we want to do?'
When the heart is open
life then has the space to offer its many spontaneous and
unpredictable gifts, and when we live without narrow desire to
organise the universe to always be exactly the way we think it should
be so that we can be happy, everything becomes possible.
Life is the gift that
enables awakening, and this is an opportunity not to be missed. Now,
the rest is up to you.
May all beings be
happy.
