Just do it!
It's difficult if not impossible to evaluate a practice in the
moment of application. This would mean there is a part of you outside
the moment observing, questioning and judging what is happening.
Here there is a real case of duality. One eye looking out with one eye looking in.
It is only by a long, consistent and determined effort that you will experience the consequences of that practice in your ordinary life. Looking for results is futile and often disappointing as it is only the stubborn self identity, that keeps looking at the spiritual scoreboard whilst missing the whole point of training.
This in the end is what separates the ego based spiritual student from the true Dhamma disciple.
So, the true practice is to cultivate a high and subtle sense of morality, cultivate a deep and sharp sense of internal awareness (sati) let your loving heart open and allow these things to naturally manifest in your life without effort.
It is said that true Dhamma practice is like walking out in the fog or mist, slowly, slowly without realizing it we become soaking wet, even to our skin.
This is the correct way to train.
