Loving Kindness.

When we say, may all beings be happy, we are expressing our interconnected wish that all beings, however they may manifest in the universe, are free from harm, free from fear and experience a security and safety in life.
It is a shortcut, from the Buddhist tradition and comes from the Metta Sutta. Happiness is an umbrella word to mean any feeling that is not based in fear and so, taken from our own direct experience of life and the difficulties and frustrations it may present we express from our own heart to theirs, this wish without conditions.
May all beings be happy and secure, may their hearts be wholesome.
Whatever living beings there may be, feeble or strong, tall, stout or medium, long, short or small, seen or unseen, those living far or near, those who are born and those who are to be born, may all beings, without exception, be happy minded.

May all beings be happy.
