Kindness
At one time a young German woman came to my room
and asked me if I would say something more about the teaching of Love
and Kindness.
In English we usually say 'loving kindness' but
the moment I heard this slight variation it was clear that this is
the correct understanding.
Love is the moment of unconditional acceptance and kindness is our selfless response to that moment.
Love is known as the fearless state and has only
the quality of purity with no self-identity affecting heart felt
intentions to help or be of service to others.
When this heart manifests there will be no ego
desire for a return on its investment, and no kind of acknowledgement
or 'thank you' will be required.
This heart shares itself without limitations and
is one of the Buddhist Brahma Viharas, the abodes of the gods, along
with compassion, joy and equanimity.
This is why love is considered to be the most
powerful force in the universe, it wants nothing back. It gives and
shares and moves gently on.
With the intuitive recognition of
interconnectedness with all beings, this loving heart radiates
kindness to all, without exception. What can be more powerful than
that?
In the end, it is only love that will save the
world, and end all wars, conflict and violence towards others. This
is worthy of our greatest consideration.
May all beings be happy.
