Ask How?

If your teacher tells you to 'live with love and be aware', and to 'just let go,' or speaks about your cosmic connection with the ‘divine’ or other abstract concepts like 'higher self' it is your responsibility to ask the question, ‘how?’
‘How do I do that?’ and to receive a clear answer and direction in your effort to realize freedom.
Nice words and warm feelings whilst you sit in front of the Master will not take you to liberation, however, walking on the path, step by step, with clear instructions and guidance will.
Giving up your identification with a self identity is no easy task, but if you are guided by someone who has already arrived at liberation and who shares their unconditional love and council with you, it can certainly be done.
But reflect, if the teacher is not free, what can they share? Their delusions may be more subtle than for others, but delusion is delusion and its consequence in the world ultimately is to be like a one eyed person leading the blind.
We hear many stories of so called Masters abusing their students or engaging in sexual activities, but reflect, when desire and fear are finished where can either of these aspects of mind find a place to hold on to?
If your Master is awakened, what can they possibly want from you? Reflect on this, it's important.
If your Master is awakened, what can they possibly want from you?
The only function of the Master then, is to guide and care for you like a loving parent, clearly stating what needs to be done and what needs to be relinquished for your own liberation, and then how to do it.
They live only to serve others, never for their own glorification. They are quiet and discreet and do not seek fame or fortune, for these things belong to the world. Whether they sit In front of two people or a thousand, the teaching is the same and shared with the love and enthusiasm of someone caring only for the welfare of all beings.
So the message is simple; in a world where spirituality can be translated into an enormous business enterprise, and a path to spiritual fame no wealth, take care of who you put your trust in.
All desire and fear, manifesting as manipulation and gamesmanship belong to the world. Love, service and infinite compassion belong to the emptiness of self.
This is the way of true Dhamma.

May all beings be happy.
