Separation.
Speaking
as a Buddhist, as a Muslim, as a Hindu, as a Christian, as a
housewife, as a teacher, as a man, as a woman, as a vegetarian, as a
vegan, as a carnivore, as a doctor, as a musician, as a fan, as a
sportsman, as a sportswoman, as a German, as an American, as a
Frenchman, as a socialist, as a conservative, as a boss, as a common
worker, as a gay man, as a gay woman, as a feminist............
Every
time we begin a thought or sentence in this way we subtlety separate
ourselves from the universe and all other beings by empowering yet
another transient identity.
We create an environment for
superiority and a world that is unique and personal to us, but of
course it's all a delusion because in reality there is nothing that
you really are and no way you have to be.
Creating and then
holding on to an apparent identity can only lead to unhappiness and
dissatisfaction as, over time and association with people identifying
themselves in the same way, you still find yourself alone, with your
own unique views and opinions based on this now shared and fragmented
identity.
Freedom does not lie in the superficial security of
belonging to a group or of becoming someone or something that gives
you a place in life, but rather the opposite, of letting go of all
limitations and being the true no-person that you truly are.
May
all beings be happy.
